... it will say,  the operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation, what might i do to get this to work? ...
If it says that then you need to set the correct type of Wireless security to match the router.  For example, if the router is using WPA2 then you need to use that too, Not WEP.

Additionally if you still have a problem with "Limited Access" or "Local Only", try the following reg tweak...

Symptom: A Vista is setup to obtain an IP address from a DHCP. However the Vista cannot receive an IP address from the DHCP. If you assign static Vista, you can access other remote computers and the Internet.

Solution:

First go in to your router config and ensure the DHCP is indeed enabled for wireless.

Now for the fix to disable the DHCP BROADCAST flag in Windows Vista. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Run regedit from the Vista.

2. Open the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{GUID}
In this registry path, click the (GUID) subkey that corresponds to the network adapter that is connected to the network.
3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value.
4. In the New Value box, type DhcpConnDisableBcastFlagToggle, and then press ENTER.
5. Right-click DhcpConnDisableBcastFlagToggle, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
7. Close Registry Editor.

Reboot.

The fingerprint recognition system is not a new thing anymore rwhich is very popular all over the world and useful in our daily life. Like entering your office, U.S.Customs & Border Protection checking, even logging in your computer.

Yes, it is very easy to login windows with a little finger-glide. But have you experienced that no matter How many times you glide your finger it have no response. In this instance, you might be very afraid of windows password lost by reason that there is a plenty of important data on your PC.

Then what should you do? One choose is fix the Fingerprint scanners, but this method will cost a lot of money. The other is use the Windows password function to solve the problem. Certainly, this is a very safer, faster and easier to use method for you.

Now, you are welcome to follow these methods below that can help you reset Windows password.

Method one: Login with the default administrator account

Step 1: Start Windows PC
Step 2: When you can see the Windows login screen, press ctrl+alt+del keys Twice and it'll show Classic Login box
Step 3: Type Administrator as Username and leave the Password field blank
Step 4: Press the Enter Key and then you can be able to login the default windows administrator account which is it created by default when install windows.

Note: When you input the key combination Please don't put the cursor on any account. And if you change the name or password before, you cannot login by this way.

Method two: Use the previous password reset disk

This method describes how to create and use a password reset disk for a computer that is a member of a domain. You can use a password reset disk to gain access to your Microsoft Windows Professional-based computer if you forget your password. Please click here to learn more.

Method three: Using Windows password remove software

Using Windows password remove software is could be the fastest and easiest way for you to reset your Windows password while you didn't create a password reset disk before.

Actually, recovering Windows password is not recommended at all. Because you cannot image how many combinations can a password be? And how large is the Windows password recovery software because it has to store so much information (Most is up to several Gs).and even more, you have to burn it to CD/DVD that will cost you hours to wait for the whole recover process. What is worse, the result may tell you that it cannot find the password. So the best way is to reset Windows password to blank.

Here I highly recommend Windows Password Reset, which is a reliable Windows password recovery program, which can recover lost admin or user password of Windows including Win 7, Vista, XP and so on. You are able to retrieve your Windows password and gain access to your system soon by burning a bootable CD/DVD, USB driver, floppy disk and so on. Click here learn more about how to remove the Windows password.

Follow these steps to remove your windows password:

    * Step1:Download the demo version from Windows Password Reset official website -- www.resetwindowspassword.com/
    * Step 2: Install Windows Password Reset.
    * Step 3: Burn the ISO into a blank CD/DVD. (The burn process might take you 2 minutes.)
    * Step 4: BIOS setting to restart from CD-ROM or DVD-ROM.

    * Step 5: Follow the instructions to reset Windows password step by step.

You could see that is only 5 steps for you to remove Windows password above.

No matter if your Fingerprint Recognition System broke or not, or no matter which version windows did you use, these three Windows password remove methods that I have mentioned above could help you login windows again as long as you forgot windows password for any reasons.

Windows XP Slow? - How to Speed Up a Slow PC Fast
5 May 2010, 12:00 am

Is  Windows XP Slow to Start Up and Slow To Run? Are your programs and games running so slow you give up using them?

When your computer starts up the first thing that happens is windows loads all the programs it needs to run at start up. If there are a lot of programs installed this can take a considerable amount of time and until they are loaded you just have to wait until they are finished loading before you can do anything.

The next thing that happens is windows reads everything from the windows registry and applies all the program, windows and device settings for your computer that are stored in there, and the bigger the registry the longer it takes and makes windows XP slow.

If there are too many programs installed or errors in your computer registry it will slow right down and will keep running slowly until these problems are fixed.

Here are three ways to fix this.

#1 Remove programs from windows start up by going to your start menu then programs then startup and right click any in there you don't want to start up and delete it from there. This will just remove the programs from start up and will not remove the programs themselves.

#2 Remove programs you are not using by going to add and remove programs which is in the windows control panel and then look at the list of programs in there. Remove what you do not need or use as these will make windows XP slow.

#3 Launch the windows task manager by pressing ctrl-alt-del on your keyboard simultaneously. Then select the task manager tab then processes. You will be able to see in there quite clearly what programs are using the most memory that you are currently using.

#4 The next step is to run a free registry scan. This will find errors in your computer registry that are slowing windows down. As windows stats up and runs it is constantly referring to the registry to find out how to load and run programs and what settings are needed for windows and programs. Once errors appear in the registry windows will run with an increasing number of problems.

Each time you add a program entries are added and even after you remove programs the entries remain and windows keep looking for these programs, unless you fix it. By running a registry scan you can find all these entries quickly and fix your PC and make it run faster in minutes and you will no longer find windows XP slow.

How to improve Computer perofrmance - Stop Your computer Crawling and Make it Run Faster
5 May 2010, 12:00 am

If your PC has slowed down you need to find out what is causing it and fix it quickly before the problem becomes worse. If you do not fix it, what starts off as minor problem can quickly prevent Windows from running at all and you need to take steps to improve computer performance.

One of the first indication anyone gets that there is a problem with their computer is when they try to do the following.

#1 Open a web browser.

#2 Open a program.

#3 Open a document.

These are all memory intensive and if there is a lack of memory or errors within windows you will notice any of these actions take a very long time to complete. This means you could be sitting there repeatedly clicking on your documents browser or program and then suddenly multiple copies open.

If you are experiencing this problem here is what you need to do. You firstly need to find out if it is a memory problem or Windows related, or both, by doing the following.

1. Press the ctrl-alt-del keys on your keyboard at the same time. Then on the box that appears in the middle of your screen click on task manager. You then want to click on the performance tab. You will then see a where it says physical memory. Ignore everything else you see and just look at free memory.

2. If this figure is less than 250000 you need to free up some memory. This is how you do it.

#1 Remove any programs you are not using or do not use. What happens is many of them are loaded into memory when windows starts and even if they are not, some of the files required to run them are and this eats away at the memory, slowing your PC to a crawl.

#2 The second problem is related to the Windows registry. This is where all the settings for Windows and all your hardware are stored and problems in the registry, even if you cannot see them, are displayed in Windows as error messages, crashing and freezing and other strange behaviour.

Manually editing these entries is not a good idea as you can make things worse. The best thing to do is to run a free registry scan, which will find all these errors quickly and let you fix them automatically. This will improve computer performance in minutes.

Get the Know on Windows 7 Starter Edition
4 May 2010, 12:00 am

Windows 7 is the newest operating system available. It is loaded with many cool features that make it quite desirable for individuals and businesses alike. But what if you are someone with a netbook? What can you do to get Windows 7? Most people know they can get Windows 7 in the Home Premium, Professional Upgrade and Ultimate Upgrade editions, but many people do not know that it also comes in a Starter version that is specifically designed for netbooks. Just as its name implies, it is a starter or basic version of Windows 7 but you will find that you still get many of the same benefits that made you want Windows 7 in the first place

One feature the Windows 7 Starter edition has that all the other editions have is the improved desktop navigation. This is done through a few different ways. One is with the new taskbar. On other operating systems you are stuck with having the icons show up in the order you opened them. With the new taskbar, you decide where they go. You will also have many different ways to view the windows with the new navigation. In the past, you could only view one window at a time. With Windows 7 you have three options for viewing windows. You can have multiple windows of different sizes open on your screen at one time with the snap feature. If you find yourself getting distracted and need to focus on one thing, you can just click on the window you want and shake your mouse and the other windows disappear with the shake feature. With the peek feature you can just put your mouse on a window when you have multiple open and it will allow you to see just that one. This can make getting tasks done easier when they require having multiple windows.

Another attractive feature that you are sure to love with the Windows 7 Starter edition is the Jump List. This is a taskbar that you can pin your favorite items to. It can be anything from your Media Player 12 library, your favorite document and even your favorite websites. This makes it much easier to find the items you use the most, without cluttering up your desktop, which can make finding these items difficult as well. You will even have Bluetooth capabilities with this operating system. This means that you can print documents on Bluetooth printers without all the wires.

The Starter edition is great for people who have netbooks. There are even more features not mentioned, such as Windows Search, improved security and even Internet Explorer 8 for faster, more secure internet browsing. Even if you are just using this version of Windows 7 to add to your home group, you can be assured that you will not be disappointed with this operating system. It is not only easier to use but will also be fun.

Comparing Windows 7 Editions
4 May 2010, 12:00 am

Windows 7 is the premier operating system available today. It has truly transformed the way we think about using a computer by not only making it simpler but adding many new cool features. But when it comes to choosing the right edition there are many things to consider. The best thing to do is to look at what each of them comes with and compare that to your needs. The three editions to look at are Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional Upgrade and Ultimate Upgrade.

The best thing to look at when comparing different editions of Windows 7 is what they all come with or what they have in common. One feature they all have in common is the updated desktop navigation. This includes features like the Retooled Taskbar to rearrange your windows as you would like and the three different ways to view your windows, from shake, peek and snap. All of them also offer quicker finding of programs and documents as well as faster, safer internet with Internet Explorer 8. You even get the updated Gadgets which will allow you to put your gadgets anywhere on your desktop, rather than having them stuck to the sidebar, as it was with Vista.  You can also create a Home Group with any of these editions to network your computers for file sharing. They also come with Media Player 12 which will let you remotely access your media library from other places. With this you also get the Player to which allows you to play your media on other networked PCs, TVs and even stereos, which can come in quite handy. The all also feature Games Explorer and multiplayer games to make using your computer more fun.

Windows 7 Home Premium is the basic edition. The next is the Professional Upgrade. This has the added features such as being able to run XP productivity modes, though this requires an extra download and being in the Windows XP mode. It also has Domain Join. This feature allows you to gain access to company networks which is quite useful for an IT professional. You can also Backup and Restore for business as well as home computers. Though this is available to an extent on all editions, the Professional Upgrade gives you a full system backup and restore. The Ultimate Upgrade, as its name implies, is the highest upgrade you can get at the moment for Windows 7. It has all the features the Home Premium and Professional Upgrade do, but offer you a few more things. For example it has the Bit Locker, which allows you to protect the information on your computer. It also comes in 35 languages you can change between.

There is also a starter version of Windows 7 that is designed for netbooks. It doesn't have as many features as these 3, but netbooks are generally not as comprehensive. So no matter what edition you choose to go with to meet your needs, you can know that Windows 7 will make your life using a computer easier.

What Windows 7 Can Do For You
4 May 2010, 12:00 am

Windows 7 is the newest operating system on the market. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that it is also the most technologically advanced as well. Many people had a bad taste left in their mouth after the catastrophe that was Vista. However, Microsoft has truly redeemed them selves with Windows 7. It has many great features and as it says it really does make using a computer simpler.

The most talked about feature with Windows 7 is the way that you can have different windows open at once and actually work on them. This is great news for people who have had to use dual monitors to accomplish this in the past. That is not to say that it has made dual monitors obsolete, just that it has made it possible to do the same tasks with one monitor now.  However, there are also a few other ways you can manipulate your windows with this new operating system. Windows 7 also has the shake and Peek features as well. With the shake, if you have many windows open and want to view just one, all you have to do is click on the window and shake your mouse. This will make all the other windows go away so you can focus on what you need to. With the Peek feature you can two things. If you point your mouse at the bottom right of the task bar, you will be able to see your desktop and any hidden icons you may have. Or you can move your cursor over a window and it will make all the other windows on top of it transparent so you can see the window you want and get the information you need off of it. With this you should also know that Microsoft has changed the taskbar on Windows 7 as well. You can now rearrange the programs on your taskbar to put them in the order that best suits you. You can even program your favorites to come in a certain order.

Another one of the many great features that Windows 7 has to offer is the enhanced media center. You will have the Play to feature. This allows you to play your favorite shows or music on your networked computers, TVs and even stereos using the new Media Player 12.  This can eliminate the need for have to hook up extra cables to be able to watch programs on your TV. You can also access your media library from any other computer, meaning you still have access to all your media when you are away. These are just a couple of the many features that make Windows 7 possibly the best operating system available. No matter what you are trying to do with your computer, Windows 7 will truly make it simpler. It takes the headache out of using a computer and makes it so even a novice can use the system with ease. Hopefully this will make people forget about the Vista mishap.
