CDR-W not detected
« on: June 20, 2008, 01:41:59 PM »
I have a system running Win ME.  I want to upgrade at least to XP.  I have two CD drives, a 'normal' one and a burner.  When I try to Backup prior to upgrading, neither drive recognizes there is a CDR-W in it.  In the burner's 'Settings' window, I have made sure 'Disconnect' is left unchecked, if that makes a difference.  Also, other CDs work, such as music CDs, previously burned CDs, and commercial game CDs (this is a used system, and I have not personally burned anything yet).  And, I know the CDR-Ws are good, becasue I have tested them in a friend's Vista laptop.  Any response is appreciated.
Also in regards to Win98, in there anything that can be done for a corrupted registry?

Just use the DC-R for now until you get updated to at least XP, then work on the CDRW issue from there, but it should just work once you perform the upgrade.
