NTLDR is missing on server bootup
« on: June 12, 2006, 08:47:19 AM »
I have a Windows web server. Upgraded Plesk software last night and server would not reboot. I contacted the datacanter and they said they were getting the error message:

Quote
NTLDR is missing. Press ctrl + alt + del to restart.

I asked the DC what they did to troubleshoot the issue and they told me they do not do that kind of support, but they would give me KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) connection so I could troubleshoot it remotely from here. Now I am connected to KVM and looking at the error message.  What can I do to troubleshoot this from here?
I must travel the path of conquest... power is necessary in order to walk that path.

You'll need a bootable version of the Windows installation CD in the CD-ROM. Ensure your BIOS it set to load from CD first, then hard drives. It is likely that your file C:\NTLDR file has been completely lost or corrupted somehow.

Boot from the CD and enter the Repair Console.
